Weddings are like a treasure chest of dreams, each couple bringing their own unique sparkle to their big day! Some love the idea of a massive grand bash with a crowd of family and friends, while others crave the cosy vibe of an intimate small elopement. I recently had the absolute joy of capturing a mini elopement and statutory marriage in Towcester, Northamptonshire, and let me tell you, it was pure magic!
The bride Charlotte and groom Barry were my type of people through and through, we had so much fun and laughs together whilst doing their couple's portraits after their intimate ceremony and it was so relaxed and felt super natural. They told me that they needed a lot of direction and weren't overly comfortable in front of the camera, but they were a dream to photograph and relaxed into it super quick and the vibe was perfect! Anyway, I could talk forever so - Let's just take a look...
The First Look: A Moment to Cherish
The day began at 9am with a sense of anticipation and warmth. We orchestrated the first look, I ventured to the venue to meet the groom, then went and met the bride in the nearest car park then lined them up for their 'first look' at each other before they wed! As the photographer, I was SO excited and eager to capture those authentic moments when the bride and groom first saw each other that day - I had Charlotte hide around the corner of the building, then I positioned the groom Barry so I could see them both then signalled for Charlotte make those steps towards her very nearly Husband-to-be, then swapped positions to get his real reaction. It always melts my heart when I can see the raw emotions in the grooms eyes and the pure joy that instantly appears on their face when they see their wife-to-be in their wedding dress. (one of my favourite parts of the weddings I photograph, actually!)

Towcester Wedding Couple Portraits: Capturing Love
After the wedding ceremony, we wandered through the heart of Towcester for those cute first couple portraits! The town's charming streets and rich history provided a lush backdrop to capture these newly-weds!
During our walk around together, I encouraged the couple to interact in a natural way, allowing their true personalities and love to shine through in the photos. We also chatted about everything as if we were long-term friends, and by the end of the session had little inside jokes! (I won't repeat them here, definitely not PG! haha)
The laughter, warm glances, and spontaneous moments created a series of portraits that genuinely reflected their relationship and fun they evidently have day to day, and I LOVE them!
The early autumn setting played a big role in enhancing the photos, with leaves slightly golden orange, and sun rays pouring through the trees in the graveyard. My aesthetic to a T!

Group Shots: Celebrating with Loved Ones
We found a beautiful charming spot in Towcester just behind their venue at The Forum that showcased a picturesque backdrop of the countryside on one side, the very building they just stated their vows in at another angle, but also the old village buildings in the back, and the historic Church in the skyline too. (I'm a sucker for an old Church!)
Even in an intimate setting like this one with just each of their mums with them, the love with so present and the smiles say it all.

The Sentimental Touch: Honouring Loved Ones
One of the most heart warming parts of this mini elopement was how the couple really celebrated their loved ones, especially the bride's late father. Those brooches you see on her bouquet? They're not just there for the aesthetic; it's her dad. Some of his ashes are in there, along with little photos of him and décor with quotes on to signify that he is with her on her big day. Charlotte specifically requested that I snap photos of him, so I did a range of photos of the bouquet on its own, with the rings, then a focus on his photos whilst in her hand after the ceremony, too. I adored this idea and thought it was such a special way to still have her dad celebrate the couples love.
